City advises of possible water supply disruption to the Old Mutual Park, Pinelands and Thornton areas
09 November 2021
The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is planning to shut down the water supply to the Old Mutual Business Complex, Pinelands and Thornton area, from Thursday, 11 November 2021 at 21:00 until Friday, 12 November 2021 at 04:00. This shutdown will allow the maintenance crew to safely do the replacement of the 600mm inline water meter on the corner of Voortrekker Road & Jakes Gerwel Drive. This will result in the water supply disruption to the Pinelands area.
The meter replacement forms part of the Bulk Water infrastructure maintenance programme, which encompasses the proactive servicing and maintenance of the bulk water distribution network to ensure continued water supply to the consumers across the City. It also forms part of the strategic intervention to reduce the unaccounted for water in the distribution network.
Consumers will have access to water as alternate water supply will be rerouted to these areas to ensure continued water supply during the maintenance work. They may however experience a fluctuation in water pressure due to the rerouted water supply.
Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal disruption to the water supply in the affected areas.
Consumers are advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused, however, this operation will ensure future continuity of water supply to residents and reduce water that is unaccounted for.
